Kids Run Free

Alexandra loves to run! She claims that she could "run forever". :) So I was very happy when one day her school sent home a flier from "KRF" (kids run free), a non-profit organization dedicated to organizing free kids running races throughout the UK. I checked it out online, loved their vision ("We want to get young people passionate about exercise, motivated and inspired to achieve and we want this to be available to all children. We want to make the UK a better place for our children. Join us in making this happen. We aim to have 24,000 kids running at events spread across England by the end of 2012.") and was thrilled to find that they had races in Leamington Spa, our neighboring town, only a 10-15 minute drive away!
The races are held on the first Saturday of every month and each child receives a goody bag (a small toy, a healthy treat and some advertisements from the sponsors) at the end of the race. Alex and Andrei did their first race in October (General Conference weekend ;-) but luckily, due to the time difference, we were able to do both).

"Warming up" in the fun warm up area. :)

Andrei's age group (3-4 yr olds) ran 100 meters. He was number 7. :)

Happy to have finished and done a great job! :)

Alex was in the 5-6 yr old group and they ran 300 meters. She was also number 7. :)

Alex approaching the finish line! Go, go, go! :)

Exhausted...

...but happy with her goody bag! ;-)

And a bit of extra stuff - the first timer kit, which they both loved! :)

*We've done the November and December races since, and I'll post some pictures soon. *

That is so awesome!!! Congrats to your beautiful little athletes!!! Keep it up, I think the love and passion for fitness and living a healthy life all around is one of the greatest gifts we can pass on to our children and loved ones. :-)
