Happy Halloween

Halloween is not as big here as it is in the US. However, our family is partly American so we are sticking to our traditions! :-) Plus it would have been hard not to, as Alexandra was so excited about it and kept asking me how many more "sleeps" until the big day.
People don't decorate as much here (or at all?) and the whole thing is geared more toward the scary, gory stuff - skeletons, vampires etc. Costumes are also difficult to find in regular stores (they have them, but again skeletons, witches and the like); I got Alexandra's princess dress online from a non-Halloween related website. Andrei didn't care too much, therefore his "skimpy" costume. Trick-or-treating is not big either; I went around to a few of our neighbours and "warned" them we were coming so they would open their doors; even offered to provide candy if they didn't have any (some people don't, as they don't plan on opening their doors). The things that parents do for their kids... ;-)
(Just as a parenthesis, and to be fair to the English, one of my neighbours told me that she used to open her door to trick-or-treaters and offer candy, until some rude kids/teenagers said to her they were not interested in sweets and wanted money!!!)
Well, things worked out well for us this year, Alexandra was excited to carve a pumpkin with dad (Andrei wasn't very interested in this part) and super excited to go trick-or-treating, which Andrei also enjoyed.
Here are some pictures and a video (in which you can enjoy Alex's British accent :)). Happy Halloween!

So cool that you still celebrated Halloween. For us it was the first time that we actually received trick-or-treaters since we don't live in BYU town anymore. :) We also carved a pumpkin and decorated a bit but no costumes though. Love the pictures. The kids look like they had tons of fun. Miss ya.
