Alexandra is 5!

Alexandra's birthday lasted like in the fairytales this year - "three days and three nights". Well, not really 3 nights, but definitely 3 days. Her birthday party was on Saturday, the 10th of July, two days before her actual birthday. She had been waiting and asking about it for so long, as she had been attending friends' birthday parties since December. So finally the day came and Ben and I found ourselves in charge of 15 5 year olds! It was a bit challenging as we had to constantly keep them entertained otherwise everything would turn into a riot -a lot of running around and screaming. :-) Luckily we had enough games planned for the 2 hours and we had the party at our Church building so there was a lot of space, even for the running around.
Alex wanted to have a fairy party and she dressed accordingly :-) Behind her there is the "put the crown on the princess/fairy" poster

I made her a chocolate cake with a fairy on top :)

When the party was over Alex was only too excited to open her presents (at home).

On Sunday we took treats to Church, the Primary sang happy birthday to her and she got to choose a small gift from the Primary gift box.

On Monday (Alexandra's actual birthday) she took another set of treats to school and on arriving home she got to open more presents - grandma and pop's package had arrived on Friday but we kept it safely hidden until the special day. Andrei got to open presents too, as grandparents sent him stuff for his birthday. Thanks Mom and Dad! (Alex is wearing her summer school uniform in theses pics).

Later on we went out for a meal at "Frankie and Benny's". I chose this particular restaurant because for birthdays, if you bring your own cake you can arrange with the waiter to bring it out with candles and have "happy birthday" played for you (not sang, played through their stereo system!).

Daddy's girl

Mommy's girl

Mommy's boy was also there :)

Eventually the time came for the cake and this is how it's done: they dim the lights and start the music; the whole restaurant gets quieter, all eyes are on your table and at the end everybody claps. I loved it and Alex was very surprised! Here's a video of it:

So Alexandra had a great birthday this year and she's already started talking about her next one. Oh, my! Only 10 more months to go! :)))
